Did winter start to set in in South Bengal at the beginning of December? The temperature in Kolkata dropped by three degrees in a single day on Saturday. While the city's minimum temperature was 17 degrees Celsius on Friday, it plunged to 14 degrees on Saturday.

The minimum temperature in Kolkata on Saturday morning was 14.5 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature on Friday was also below normal. The day's temperature did not rise above 26.7 degrees Celsius (1.4 degrees below normal).

There is no such low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal at the moment. As a result, there is no obstacle in the path of the northerly winds. The cold will increase further in the districts of North and South Bengal in the next few days.

The Alipore Meteorological Department has said that the night temperature may drop by at least two degrees in South Bengal in the next two days. However, there will be no change in the temperature in North Bengal for now. There will be dry weather everywhere. There is no possibility of rain anywhere.

With the onset of winter, the problem of fog has started increasing day by day. The Meteorological Office has issued fog warnings in several districts of North and South Bengal. In North Bengal, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and in South Bengal, districts like East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram are likely to experience moderate to dense fog in the morning.

This is also causing problems for traffic movement. Light fog was also seen in Kolkata early on Saturday. The Meteorological Office said that visibility in these districts may drop from 200 meters to 99 meters due to fog.

Not only West Bengal, but many states in the country are expected to experience colder weather than normal this season. The World Meteorological Organization has said in a recent report that North India will experience colder weather this time. Due to the influence of La Nina, winter will last longer in several parts of North India. An increase in cold waves may be seen.
