The bulletin published by the Alipore Meteorological Department says that Montha has moved north and northwestwards over the Bay of Bengal at a speed of 15 kmph in the last six hours. This time it has started the process of making landfall on the Andhra coast as a severe cyclonic storm. Its landfall process has started near Kakinada between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam. This process will continue for the next three to four hours. After that, it will gradually move north and northwestwards. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the speed of the storm at the time of landfall will be about 90-100 kmph. The maximum speed of the storm can be 110 kmph.

Due to the impact of this cyclone, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in this state as well. Heavy rains may occur in some districts. Yellow alert has been issued for rain with thunder and gusty winds in all districts of South Bengal on Wednesday. Among them, heavy (7 to 11 cm) rain may occur in South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Purulia, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad districts on Thursday. Thunderstorms will accompany rain with gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph in all districts. Heavy rains will occur sporadically in the districts of South Bengal till Friday, October 31.

There is also a warning of thunderstorms in the rest of the districts. There is a possibility of very heavy rain (7 to 20 cm) in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri on Friday. There will be heavy rain in Malda and North Dinajpur on that day.
